Offering compassion,
Giving someone care and support,
Is all about feelings.
To share your feelings of love,
With someone who feels pain.
It’s not so much about materialistic things,
Or actual doing things.
It’s not about what you give,
But about how you wish the other person will feel. You can give someone who is sad a new set of clothes, an apple-pie or a new car. If it’s only been given out of a sense of guilt, responsibility, or ‘I should do something’, all those gifts will not make any difference. But attention given from the heart, does.
To listen when you are fully present. I hear you. To look deeply into the eyes of the other. I see you. A hand on their shoulder, because you want this person to feel supported. I feel you. Compassion is to truly let the other feel; we are in this together!
